Adventures in stop-motion animation
Adventures in stop-motion animation
4 week drop-off program on Sundays from 9-10 am for ages 6+ years.
location: CAF maker space
Programs will not be held on statutory holidays. If the dates you select includes a statutory holiday, you will be reimbursed for the cost of one class.
Instructor: Leopold Coleman (They/Them/Theirs)
A beginner stop-motion animation course that will explore film making, storytelling, set design, lighting, editing and voice narration.
Participants will be introduced to the joy of stop-motion by a passionate high school student who has been creating stop-motion short films, using stik bots since the age of 6. Leopold creates weekly episodes on their YouTube channel with stories about their stik bot gang, blue, purple and green.
Like all of our programs, participants will be able to pursue their interests at their own pace, while also building upon skills learned from previous sessions which means no session will be the same!
A note about ages: All ages (6+) are welcome in this program. Participants will be working independently and will be creating work appropriate to their skill level. We find that a mixed group of younger and older children offers the best learning environment for both ages. The curiosity of younger participants is peaked with older participants, while the older participants gain confidence by helping the younger participants learn new skills.
about the instructor:
Leopold is a 17 yr old honour roll student at GCVI, who plans on pursuing a teaching degree with a special interest in Kindergarten. Leopold is a studio assistant at CAF and also assists with our camp programs. Leopold loves sharing their passion for animation with others.
