Do I have to register my child to come and play?

No. The studio works as a drop-in (with caregiver). You are welcome to come when you want and leave when you want.

Can I go out for lunch and come back for a visit afterward?

No. You are welcome to bring a snack with you or nip out quickly to get something at the bakery but we are not set up to be an all day activity to come and go when you want at the same price.

Can I wear my shoes? No. We are a socks-only facility.  For health and sanitary reasons we ask that socks or shoes with smooth leather bottoms must be worn during your visit. If you have not come prepared we have socks available for both kids and parents to wear. If you are not in the moon sand area, you may wear your shoes.

Do parents/caregivers pay?

No. Babes-in-arms are free as well.

When are you busiest?

We are a small studio so we can fill up quickly, unfortunately we do have a capacity and we can often reach that capacity early in the mornings on Saturdays, Holidays, P.A days and Fridays. To ensure a spot, it is best to come before 10 -10:30am on those days. During the week, we are quieter in the afternoons.

What should I expect on a visit to CAF?

We ask that you leave your good clothes at home and maybe bring along an extra set, just in case! We often have messy and wet activities and children will want to explore those things. They should be able to make a mess and not have to worry about their clothing. We keep the upstairs nice and warm. children are welcome to take off shirts or pants if that is more comfortable for them (and for you!). A list of the different themes we do each month is listed on our website- so you can prepare as needed. Caregivers and children are expected to remove shoes before entering the studio. We love our moonsand kitchen but due to the properties of moonsand- it tends to track everywhere- to keep our studio as rule free as possible- having shoes off protects our moonsand from leaving the studio on bottoms of shoes. Leather soled bottoms are fine, if you have an issue with this.

I have a child with an allergy, do any of your art supplies have food in them?

No. There are no food items in any of our traditional art supplies. However, we do use rice as a grinding activity. We do not use any products that contain wheat or nuts for grinding.

Moonsand is made by grinding sand and adding wax. We sift moonsand and sand of debris on an on-going basis.

we use tempera paint pucks as a make-up/face painting station on our stage- tempera paint is completely non-toxic and we replace water whenever needed. We keep baby wipes on hand for cleaning faces. Just ask!
