The beauty of process ❤️

It’s always wonderful to discover left behind evidence of children’s play.

Play is the work of a child and you can see this here, in the intentional ordering of the cars and people in this photo.

The difference between adult work and the work of the child is that it is always self directed. The child has agency to engage in their work for as long as they want or need and without any unnecessary adult intervention or instruction. It can be quiet, tidy and orderly like this or loud, messy and chaotic …but both are meaningful and beautiful.

This 2 hr drop off session for children age 6-8 yrs will experiment with safe ways to create natural dyes from flowers, veggies and berries!

Children will take home their own natural dyed materials including paper eggs and fabric pieces for display… perfect for spring decorations!

Either the artist started with a rainbow and sun then changed direction by obliterating the painting underneath or …it was a collab between two different artists with vastly different perspectives😂

Either way, the colours are so bright and cheery, it was a pleasure to see this on the easel today❤️

Painting things other than paper are endlessly fas

Painting things other than paper are endlessly fascinating and fun for little Artists.

Whenever we add our plexiglass easel to to the water table, we find it prolongs engagement, especially when soap, sponges and squeegees are used in collaboration with the paint.

Bubbles form, creating a soapy coloured paint. We also have sprayers that add delight and serve as a working tool, that is purposeful, challenging and fun.

The Art created on the plexi easel is ephemeral, beautiful and ever changing; but made with joy in a moment of play.

As a drop in art studio for children, we our proud to provide a creative space for the community we live in, as well as for those who travel to visit us.

It’s been a long and winding road from our studio beginnings in a tiny store front to our much larger current home in a former sewing sewing machine factory.

But we are a still constantly evolving!

We are currently in the midst of designing and working on some special new projects that will launch sometime this spring!
