We are offering a March break Play Lab! 2 hrs in the mornings (9:30-11:30) throughout the week! Choose Mon/Wed/Friday and/or Tues/Thursday.

Play Lab is a drop off program for ages 4-6 and will be facilitated by our Fabulous Play Lab Leader, Hannah (She/Her)!

Hannah is a student at U of G studying early childhood education. You can check out her Instagram @child.at.heart_ for photos and thoughts on the importance of play.

When it snows…we make it Art!

Play Lab took full advantage of that glorious white stuff that kept coming down on Friday and brought out the coloured spray bottles and went to town in our back courtyard! I love the colourful results!

When I opened this studio I had many parents tell

When I opened this studio I had many parents tell me their child wasn’t into Art and dismissed my space altogether.

Believing that a child is not into Art because they don’t like to sit and draw or paint or craft is unfortunately because that is the way Art has been presented to young children for a longtime.

If you were to step into our space you will witness Art for young children presented in a different way, a way that meets them where they are, and does not expect them to sit and make Art the way the grown ups do.

All children are natural artists and creative thinkers, and after twelve years of running my studio I’m more convinced of this than ever before, as I witness all ages and interests of children at play here in the studio, they show me every day that every child is into Art, we just have to expand our idea of what Art is, and how it is created.

Because true Art comes from the soul of the person and never from step by step instructions. Art is play. Art is process. Art is discovery and invention. Art is for every child.

Christina, Our Frida’s Friends facilitator is a master at nurturing the naturally occurring wonder for wee ones.

Frida’s is geared for little ones age 18 months to 3 yrs and it runs every month! There are many days and times to choose from!

It’s a great program to begin your art factory journey and it only gets better from here❤️

The joy of moonsand❤️ Sculpting cakes and cass

The joy of moonsand❤️ Sculpting cakes and casseroles for the sock monkeys was a favourite in both the morning and afternoon session today.

I even managed to capture some moonsand baking in action through the window…

As you can see, sock monkeys are easy going guests to prepare meals for, as long as you set a fine table and serve with style❤️
